Armed Forces and Veteran Scheme
We’re proud to be an armed forces-friendly place to work.
We welcome reservists, armed forces veterans (including the wounded, injured and sick), as well as cadet instructors, and military spouses and partners. Our community is growing by the day, and we’re keen to encourage more individuals from this community to join us.
We recognise the huge contribution the armed forces community has made to our society – and the important impact you can make here. But we also see the barriers and challenges you face when applying for civilian roles.
That’s why we’ve made sure that our opportunities are accessible, and our culture is supportive.
Guaranteed interview scheme
As a veteran or reservist, when you apply through our guaranteed interview scheme and you meet the minimum criteria for the role, you’ll progress to the next stage of our application process.
Please note: this scheme is similar but separate to the Civil Service’s 'Great Place to Work for Veterans Scheme'.
If you are a veteran or reservist, please make sure you indicate that you would like to be considered for the scheme when you are applying for a role.
We grant special leave
If you’re a member of the auxiliary or reserve forces, we’ll consider granting you special leave (typically unpaid) to attend training courses or camps.
We’re signatories of the Armed Forces Covenant
In June 2021, we signed the Armed Forces Covenant to pledges our support for the armed forces community, including the promise to ensure veterans, their families, and reservists are treated fairly.
The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award
Recently, we were proud to be awarded the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award. This award recognises all the work we’ve done so far, and everything we’re working towards, from providing special leave to holding special Insight Days for veterans, their families and reservists.
Reservist Forces Policy
