Envelope showing the 1948 Olympic stamp
This envelope, sent by former Parliamentary Clerk Basil St George Drennan, displays the 1948 London Olympic Games stamp. Drennan began his Parliamentary career in 1926, where he remained until his retirement in 1958.
Drennan, who had a keen interest in philately, informs his mother about his visit to the Games. In this letter, he tells his mother that he watched the 5000 metres race, describing the Games as "magnificent" despite the rainy weather conditions.
