Furniture in Division Lobbies

Members of both Houses register their vote for or against issues by physically going into two different areas either side of their debating chambers. This is known as 'dividing the House' and the areas themselves are called “division lobbies”. Nigeria and Uganda both donated eight armchairs and three tables to furnish the division lobbies of the House of Commons. The furniture is made from Iroko wood which is a large hardwood tree from the west coast of tropical Africa which can live up to 500 years.
