Silver

There are over 1,300 items of historic silver in the Palace of Westminster. Most pieces were designed specifically for the building and are still in use today. Many are part of the State Silver collection made by Garrards in 1835. Other silver items are used throughout the Palace such as letter racks and calendars, many of which were designed by A.W. N. Pugin in the 1840s in his gothic revival style. A number of presentation pieces are also in the collection and we also hold a small number of items which date to before the fire that destroyed the Old Palace of Westminster in 1834.
