Peers' First World War Memorial

This statue stands as a memorial to Members of the House of Lords who died in the First World War. Sculpted by John Tweed in 1932 this memorial, originally sited in the Royal Gallery, was unveiled by the Prince of Wales on 10 March 1932.

The memorial depicts a youth offering up his sword to his country. The memorial is inscribed 'in piam memoriam 1914-1919' translated as 'in pious memory 1914-1919'.
