The House of Lords Library, by Sir Benjamin Stone

In the 1890s Stone's reputation as a photographer led him to travel the world.  During this time he travelled with the Royal Astronomical Society to Brazil and also visited the West Indies, South Africa, Syria, Egypt and Palestine.  He continued to take photographs documenting life at home and in Parliament.  This image shows the Map Room, one of four rooms designed by Charles Barry and Augustus Pugin in 1848 to accommodate the House of Lords Library, following the fire that destroyed the original palace in 1834.
