Report of election Speech at Somercotes, Derbyshire

When Asquith became Prime Minister in 1908, David Lloyd George succeeded him as Chancellor of the Exchequer.  As Chancellor, Lloyd George introduced the 'People's Budget' of  1909 which precipitated a consitutional crisis. During the first of two General Elections held in 1910 Lloyd George travelled the country to campaign for local Liberal candidates.

This document details the speech he made in Derbyshire in support of candidates Hancock, Harvey and Hinmers. This speech was made on 24 January in the middle of the election period which spanned 15 January to 10 February 1910.
