After the Second World War, there was renewed interest in getting women into the Lords. A pressure group was formed, chaired by Edward Iwi, which organised a petition on the subject. This collected 50,000 signatures but was never actually presented to Parliament.

Pictured is a smaller petition presented to the Lords on 2 March 1948. Edward Iwi's signature can be seen at the bottom of the first page. The signatures on the second page include the hereditary women peers Lady Ravensdale, who would become one of the first women to sit in the Lords as a life peer in 1958, and Lady Rhondda.
