Vote on the qualification of peeresses, 1930

A motion in the Lords on the right of peeresses to sit in that House was moved by Viscount Astor on 16 July 1930. The resulting division was close, but failed, by 49 votes to 55.

Discussion did continue on the admission of women to the Lords up until the Second World War, but as part of Lords reform generally, rather than the rights of women peers in particular.
