David Pitt (1913-1994)

David Pitt, a Labour life peer from 1975, was a GP and politician. A prominent politician in Trinidad and the Caribbean before coming to Britain in 1949, he developed interests in race relations and migration issues during the 1950s and 1960s.

In the House of Lords, where he was the second black peer, he was particularly interested in social services, health, welfare, and education.
