Lucy Faithfull (1910-1996)

Lucy Faithfull, a Conservative life peer from 1976, was an experienced social worker who campaigned strenuously and consistently on behalf of children.

In the Lords she ran a cross-party campaign for children's rights, and her advocacy of the Scottish system of children's panels contributed to the Prosecution of Offenders Act of 1985.

She chaired the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Children, and persuaded most cross-bench peers to join her in supporting the Children's Bill in 1989.
