Nancy Seear (1913-1997)

Nancy Seear, a Liberal life peer from 1971, was leader of her party in the Lords in the mid-1980s. Politically active since the 1930s, she worked with organisations such as the National Association for Care and Resettlement of Offenders, the National Carers' Association, the National Council for the Single Woman and her Dependants, and the Fawcett Society.

Her activities in the Lords included sponsoring the 1973 Sex Discrimination Bill and chairing the select committee on unemployment.
