Stephen James Lake Taylor, Lord Taylor of Harlow (1910-1988)

Stephen Taylor was a doctor who made a great contribution to the development of general practice and held many positions on medical boards and organisations.

He was head of the home intelligence division in the Ministry of Information during the Second World War.

Committed to the idea of a National Health Service, he helped with the Labour Party's 1945 election manifesto and was himself a Labour MP from 1945 to 1950, acting as Parliamentary Private Secretary to Herbert Morrison between 1947 and 1950.
