Final years and legacy

In the final years of his life, Cobbett rented a farm in his home county of Surrey. Despite declining health he was still able to publish two books in this period, entitled ‘Legacy to Labourers' and ‘Legacy to Parsons'. He died on 27 June 1835 and was buried in Farnham, his birthplace.

Since his death, Cobbett's writings have continued to influence political thought. His opinions have appealed to thinkers of both the right and left.
