House of Commons Salary Book saved from the 1834 fire, scorched by the flames. This page shows names of women staff including 'Elizabeth Favill, Cook', at top of list. Favill was immortalised by Charles Dickens in his Parliamentary Sketches as 'Jane', goddess of Bellamy's famed Refreshment Rooms.
