Golden Jubilee addresses, 2002

In 2002, Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her Golden Jubilee. On 30 April the Queen was presented with Addresses by Houses of Parliament in Westminster Hall. To commemorate fifty years on the throne, a number of events took place throughout Britain and the Commonwealth countries. Elizabeth and her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, attended all of the official celebrations and visited seventy different towns and cities. In the summer, a successful weekend of ceremonies took place in London, including two concerts in the grounds of Buckingham Palace. The Golden Jubilee combined traditional and contemporary forms of celebration, and also provided the Queen with the opportunity to personally thank her people for their support.
