Passes for the Wedding of Princess Elizabeth

Elizabeth and Lt Philip Mountbatten married at Westminster Abbey on 20 November 1947. Two thousand guests were invited to the ceremony whilst thousands more lined to streets to watch the procession. The procession went past the Palace of Westminster where those with passes, examples of which are pictured here, were able to wait to catch a glimpse of the couple. Passes were available to those working in the Palace for either a space on the pavement outside or in one of the rooms on the west side of the Palace.
