Order of Service for the wedding of Princess Margaret

Princess Margaret married photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones at Westminster Abbey on 6 May 1960. Princess Margaret arrived at the Abbey at 11.30 am, dressed in white silk and a diamond tiara, accompanied by her eight bridesmaids. The Princess was escorted to the altar by the Duke of Edinburgh, where the groom and his best man Dr Roger Gilliat were waiting. The traditional Church of England service was led by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Geoffrey Fisher, in which Margaret promised to obey her husband.  The ceremony was attended by 2000 guests including the families of the bride and groom, foreign royalty and other special guests.
