Roxanne Michael - Committee Researcher Sandwich student

I work in the International Trade Select Committee as a researcher. During my time on placement, I have worked on various aspects of the Department for Trade’s activity, including undertaking analysis on the newly signed Australia free trade agreement – a personal highlight of mine.

I have written briefing material for MPs in the committee and regularly attend committee meetings.

The House is a very welcoming and friendly place to work and there are always people that are eager to help when needed!

Undertaking a placement provides you with invaluable work experience, a placement in the House of Commons also provides a great insight into the workings of Parliament and UK Politics. This revived understanding, and the new research skills I have developed in the role, will be helpful in my final year dissertation.
