“I have always been passionate about the Commonwealth - a family of nations with a shared history and values, working together as equal partners for the benefit of all, no matter the size or location of any member.

"For this year’s Commonwealth Day, our exhibition shares some of the stories and links, both personal and historical, we have across the parliamentary community with the Commonwealth. Some of these are dark, but many are full of hope.

"My wish is that this exhibition gives you pause for thought and encourages you to talk about and share your stories - good and bad. By sharing our stories with others, we can learn from the past and build a more unified, inclusive future.”
