I was born in what was British India and have been an MP since 2007. It is a real honour representing a diverse community, that has a wide range of ideas, many different religions and varying needs. These range from help needed for housing, services, from the local authority or international issues.

To me, the Commonwealth brings together our shared history and enables us to work for the development of peace, prosperity and equality between countries.
