MP for Norwich South

My father was born and raised in Grenada and I have enjoyed being MP for Norwich South since 2015, speaking up for those who feel their voice would otherwise not be heard, challenging power and having a platform to question.

As for the Commonwealth – I think its name is misleading and, in many ways, emblematic of the story we as a country tell ourselves about empire. That ‘wealth’ is not held ‘in common’ as the name suggests – nor is it held by the people of Britain. Rather, it is held by a small number of individuals and institutions who jealously hoard it and its accompanying political power, while at the same time encouraging the rest of us to buy into the myth of the shared bonds of community.
