Marianne - Trinidad
Marianne
Managing Director of the Governance Office
My parents always expressed a sadness about Trinidad becoming independent from the UK in 1962, because they were very proud to be connected to the ‘motherland’.
So, being part of the Commonwealth meant that Trinidad was still connected to the UK, which was important to both my immediate family in the UK, and my extended family back home in Trinidad.
I have worked in Parliament for 20 years and enjoy having a really varied role. Particular highlights were setting up a workplace equality network for BAME colleagues in 2014 and being the Senior Responsible Officer for the 2019 General Election.
