My mother was born in Australia, and as a five-year-old boy I spent a term in a primary school there, near where my grandparents lived.

Being an MP gives us an amazing opportunity to help constituents for whom we are very often their last hope. I love being an advocate for the constituency where I live.

As the trade envoy to South Africa, I have taken part in a number of Commonwealth events, and our shared respect for democracy, the rule of law, human rights and the rules-based international order, are massive strengths which the UK should continue to champion.
