Having been born in Australia, the Commonwealth means being part of the wider world community that has a common origin in the UK. However uncomfortable its beginnings may have been, I feel that – hopefully – we have all been instilled with a common desire not to let those hold us back. Instead, we should be inspired towards positive change that promotes equality for all.

One of the reasons I love working here is we are at the centre of democracy, where everything that happens here affects everyone, particularly now.
