"I have been the Butterfly Conservation East Riding of Yorkshire butterfly recorder for 25 years. This involves collating the records from hundreds of volunteer contributors. The data is used for an annual Yorkshire Lepidoptera Report to which I also contribute. It also goes to the national database held by Butterfly Conservation and is used in academic studies and to form BC's 5-yearly national reports which began with The Millennium Atlas of Butterflies in The British Isles and Ireland. I have also served on the Yorkshire Branch Committee as Secretary. I have given public talks, assisted with surveys, spoken on local radio and contributed articles to local publications. I helped established the Butterfly City project and am currently its Chair. I was awarded the Yorkshire Branch Outstanding Volunteer Award for 2021."
