2015: How do we increase diversity in Parliament?

On Friday 4 December 2015, the House of Lords opened up its chamber, inviting people from across the UK to take part in a debating event.

The 2015 debate was the latest event in a broad outreach programme that aims to raise awareness of the role and work of the Lords, with more than 200 participants of all ages.

The question we asked was:

  • How do we increase diversity in Parliament?

Participants were drawn from partnerships with a number of organisations including The English-Speaking Union, the British Humanist Association, Girlguiding, Humanist Society Scotland and Three Faiths Forum, as well as students from schools across the UK.
