Lords to quiz Ambassadors of Lithuania, Slovakia and Slovenia on European External Action Service
The House of Lords EU Sub-Committee on External Affairs will tomorrow take evidence from the Ambassadors of Lithuania, Slovakia and Slovenia as part of the inquiry into the role and operation of the European External Action Service (EEAS).
The Committee will ask the Ambassadors whether they feel the EEAS has strengthened the EU's position in external relations and improved coherence and consistency in EU policy. They will seek views on how the creation of the EEAS has impacted on the foreign policy of their countries and whether they feel some countries have undue power and influence within the EEAS.
The witnesses will also be asked whether the current budget for the EEAS is appropriate or if it should be provided with greater resources.
The evidence session will take place on Wednesday 19 December at 10.05am in Committee Room 4A of the House of Lords and will be webcast live at www.parliamentlive.tv.
The evidence session is also open to the public. Journalists wishing to attend should go to Parliament's Cromwell Green Entrance and should allow time for security screening.
