Lords EU Commitee to take evidence on EU External Action Service
The House of Lords European Union Sub-Committee on External Affairs will tomorrow take evidence from Paul Asquith, Engagement and Policy Manager at The African Foundation for Development as part of their inquiry into the European External Action Service (EEAS).
The Committee will question Mr Asquith on whether the creation of the EEAS has had a positive impact on the delivery of the EU's aid, particularly to African States, and how well the EU's delegations are functioning. He will also be asked about how Non-Governmental Organisations work with the EEAS, whether lobbying is better done in Brussels or in Member States' capitals and whether its creation has affected the capacity of NGOs to act on the ground.
The evidence sessions will take place on Thursday 13 December at 10am in Committee Room 1 of the House of Lords and will be webcast live at www.parliamentlive.tv.
The evidence session is also open to the public. Journalists wishing to attend should go to Parliament's Cromwell Green Entrance and should allow time for security screening.
