Lords media inquiry converges on Europe
The Lords Communications Committee will next week put questions to Robert Madelin, European Commission Director-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology as part of their inquiry into media convergence.
The Committee will explore the impact of convergence on public policy at the European level. In particular, they will ask Mr Madelin about the increasing challenges of jurisdiction, regulatory coherence within and across Member States, as well as his views on matters such as content standards and the role of ISPs.
The evidence sessions will take place on Tuesday 11 December at 4pm in Committee Room 2 of the House of Lords. Robert Madelin is giving evidence via video-link.
The evidence session is also open to the public. Journalists wishing to attend should go to Parliament's Cromwell Green Entrance and should allow time for security screening.
