Lords talk convergence to TalkTalk and RadioCentre
As part of their inquiry into media convergence, The Lords Communications Committee will put questions to Andrew Heaney, Executive Director of Strategy and Regulation, TalkTalk, and to Mr Andrew Harrison, CEO, RadioCentre on Tuesday 18 December.
At 1.45pm the Committee will first question Andrew Heaney, of TalkTalk, about Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
ISPs play an increasingly important role as intermediaries between audiences and content providers. As convergence has driven more content online, calls have therefore been made for ISPs to take more responsibility for the content they provide audiences access to. The Committee will explore questions arising from this, as well from other related matters such as content on connected TVs and the changing nature of the open internet.
Mr Heaney will be followed, at 2.30pm, by Andrew Harrison from RadioCentre.
The Committee will explore the dramatic changes brought about by convergence in audio-based media, and radio in particular. They will consider the prospects for local and commercial radio in a converged media world, as well as questions on digital radio switchover and the future of local content.
The evidence sessions will take place on Tuesday 18 December at 1.45pm in Committee Room 2 of the House of Lords and will be webcast live at www.parliamentlive.tv.
The evidence session is also open to the public. Journalists wishing to attend should go to Parliament's Cromwell Green Entrance and should allow time for security screening.
