Lords to Quiz Gerald Howarth on EU Military Capabilities
Minister for International Security, Gerald Howarth MP, will this week give evidence to the House of Lords EU Sub-Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Development Policy as they consider the military capabilities available to the EU.
The future of the EU's military capability is increasingly important as Member States reduce their own military spending at the same time as the US also reduces defence spending and refocuses its priorities on the Asia Pacific region.
The evidence session is the last of the Committee's inquiry and they will quiz Mr Howarth on the Government's position on increased pooling of military resources with other EU Member States and how Member States can develop their military capabilities to meet current rather than Cold War priorities.
The evidence session will start at 10:05am on Thursday 19 January in Committee Room 2A of the House of Lords.
