Lords Committee to quiz Europe Minister David Lidington on recent G20 summit and European Council

The House of Lords EU Select Committee will tomorrow take evidence from David Lidington MP, Minister for Europe, on the recent European Council and G20 summits.

The Committee will ask Mr Lidington what role the UK should have, as both an EU and G20 member, in the actions the euro area is taking to deal with its economic crisis. They will also quiz him on the prospects for closer integration in Europe as a result of the current problems in the euro zone.

The evidence session will also cover other areas of developing EU policy such as enlargement and the response to the crisis in Syria. The Committee will ask whether the economic situation is taking attention away from important areas of EU activity.

The evidence session will start at 4.05pm on Tuesday 3 July in Committee Room 4 of the House of Lords and will be webcast live at www.parliamentlive.tv.

The evidence session is also open to the public. Journalists wishing to attend should go to Parliament's Cromwell Green Entrance and should allow time for security screening.
