Independent think tank quizzed by Peers on migration
Mats Persson, Director and Stephen Booth, Research Director at Open Europe will appear before the Lords Home Affairs, Health and Education EU Sub-Committee on Wednesday 11 July, to give their views on the EU's Global Approach to Migration and Mobility (GAMM).
Questions the Committee are likely to put to Mr Persson and Mr Booth include:
- What is your view on how the Global Approach to Migration has operated to date, and do you think it is an effective strategy?
- Do you believe that the UK's “pick-and-mix”[1] approach to cooperation in EU asylum policy has undermined our influence on EU policy developments in this area?
- Do you think that Sweden's relatively open immigration policy provides an example for the UK to follow?
- How could the effectiveness of the Global Approach be improved and what do you think of the Commission's proposals in its most recent Communication on the subject?
