Broadband for the nation: Lords to quiz experts

Telecoms experts will appear before the House of Lords Communications Committee on Tuesday to contribute to the Committee's inquiry into superfast broadband.

The Committee will question witnesses on issues such as broadband demand & access, infrastructure & service provision, and what, in practice, it would mean for the UK to have the best superfast broadband network in Europe by 2015.

In three separate evidence sessions, the Committee will question:

  • Chi Onwurah, Shadow Minister for the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills and former Head of International Technology Strategy for Ofcom
  • Andrew Barron, Chief Operating Officer, Virgin Media
  • Steve Robertson, former Chief Executive Officer, BT Openreach

The evidence sessions will take place at 3.15, 4.00 and 4.45 respectively on Tuesday 22 May in Committee Room 2 of the House of Lords and will be webcast live at www.parliamentlive.tv.

The evidence session is open to the public; journalists wishing to attend should access Parliament via St Stephen's Entrance where they will be directed towards the Committee Corridor and should allow plenty of time to  for security screening.
