Superfast broadband on the go: Lords speak to mobile phone companies
Representatives from mobile phone companies Vodafone and Three, communications provider Talk Talk and SSE (formerly Scottish and Southern Energy), will appear before the House of Lords Communications Committee in three separate evidence sessions on Tuesday 29 May.
As part of their investigation into superfast broadband, the Committee will question witnesses on issues such as stimulating competition in mobile services, the effectiveness of current broadband policies and plans, what key issues might require intervention and regulation and what the ‘best superfast broadband network in Europe' should look like.
At 3.30pm, the Committee will hear from:
- Julie Minns, Head of Public Policy and Corporate Responsibility at Three; and
- Paul Morris, Head of Government Affairs at Vodafone.
They will be followed at 4.15pm by:
- Itret Latif, Telecoms and Gas Business Manager for SSE.
Finally, at 5pm, the Committee will question:
- The Hon. Diana ‘Dido' Harding, Chief Executive Officer of Talk Talk.
The evidence sessions will take place on Tuesday 29 May in Committee Room 2 of the House of Lords and will be webcast live at www.parliamentlive.tv.
The evidence session is also open to the public. Journalists wishing to attend should go to Parliament's Cromwell Green Entrance and shoud alow time for security screening.
