Lords to discuss future EU policing and security priorities with senior police figures

At 11am, the Committee will speak to:

• Sir Hugh Orde, President of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO);
• Rob Wainwright, Director of Europol and President of the European Cybercrime Centre; and
• Keith Bristow, Head of the National Crime Agency.

The witnesses are likely to face questions including:

• What should the strategic priorities be in the next JHA programme for policing, security and terrorism?
• What value might the EU add in tackling serious and organised crime, and would you welcome a framework to discuss common threats within in the EU, including EU agencies and third countries?
• Should the next programme recommend a review of the effectiveness of Europol?
• Is there a need for legislation or more cooperation to support an improvement in the exchange of criminal records amongst Member States?
• Should there be further EU action to tackle human trafficking?
• What action should the Programme recommend to modernise the EU intelligence sharing structure and information management framework?

The evidence session will take place on Wednesday 18 December at 11am in Committee Room 3.
