Lords EU Committee to hear from LSE professors for Euro area crisis inquiry
The House of Lords EU Sub-Committee on Economic and Financial Affairs will tomorrow take evidence from Professors Charles Goodhart and Paul de Grauwe from the London School of Economics as well as John Peet, Europe Editor of The Economist as they continue their inquiry into the Euro-Area crisis.
The Committee will quiz the witnesses on whether they are convinced by recent suggestions from the like of Christine Lagarde and Mario Draghi that the eurozone has turned a corner and is moving toward an end of the financial crisis and well as whether eurozone countries have gone far enough to ensure their competitiveness.
The sessions will also touch on the Implications for the UK of steps towards greater economic and monetary union in the euro area.
The evidence session will start at 10:30am on Tuesday 22 January in Committee Room 3 of the House of Lords. The schedule is as follows:
