Lords to ask Treasury Minister – what is being done to tackle youth unemployment in the euro area?
The Rt Hon Greg Clark MP, Financial Secretary to the Treasury, is to appear before the House of Lords EU Sub-Committee on Economic and Financial Affairs on Tuesday 23 July, as part of its third update evidence session on the euro area crisis.
The committee will ask the minister if he can foresee an “endgame” to the euro area crisis, and whether enough is being done to stimulate growth, promote competitiveness and tackle youth unemployment.
The Lords will also ask Mr Clark if he fears that the relationship between euro area members and non-euro area members is becoming more strained as a result of deeper euro area integration. The Treasury Minister will also be questioned on the draft EU budget for 2014.
The evidence session is one of the committee's regular six-monthly follow-ups to its original report on the euro area crisis, published in February 2012.
It will take place at 10.00am, on Tuesday 23 July in Committee Room 3 of the House of Lords.
The session is open to the public. If you wish to attend you should go to Parliament's Cromwell Green Entrance and allow time for security screening.
