Economic Affairs Committee to hear from Treasury and Revenue and Customs officials
The House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee will tomorrow take evidence from officials from HM Treasury and HM Revenue and Customs as part of their inquiry into corporate taxation.
The Committee will question the witnesses on the Chancellor's proposal to ‘name and shame' promoters of tax avoidance schemes, statements from HMRC that it had recovered £23bn in additional tax from big business in the last three years and whether the distinction in the tax code between debt and equity should be reviewed.
The evidence session will take place at 3:35pm on Tuesday 18 June in Committee Room 1 of the House of Lords. Giving evidence to the Committee will be:
- Lin Homer, Chief Executive, HM Revenue and Customs;
- Edward Troup, Tax Assurance Commissioner and Second Permanent Secretary, HM Revenue and Customs;
- Jim Harra, Director General for Business Tax, HM Revenue and Customs; and
- Fergus Harradence, Deputy Director, Corprate Tax, HM Treasury.
