Lords to hear from journalists in fracking and shale gas inquiry
The House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee will next week take evidence on fracking from journalists and film makers as it continues its inquiry into the potential economic impact of shale gas and oil in the UK
The Committee will hear from Viscount (Matt) Ridley a scientist and journalist who regularly writes on environmental and energy issues, Nick Grealy, Director of No Hot Air an organisation dedicated to improving the public perception of shale energy and Phelim McAleer producer of FrackNation a documentary which aims to address perceived misinformation about fracking.
The Committee will question the witnesses about the potential economic benefits for the UK of shale gas, how much of the UK's shale reserves is realistically extractable, the environmental impact and what should be done to make shale gas development acceptable to local communities affected and whether the UK has an appropriate regulatory regime as regards shale gas and oil.
The evidence session will start at 3:35 pm on Tuesday 26 November in Committee Room 3 of the House of Lords.
The session will be webcast at www.parliamentlive.tv and is also open to the public. Journalists wishing to attend should go to Parliament's Cromwell Green Entrance and should allow time for security screening.
