Lords Committee to discuss future EU plans for Home Affairs and Justice
The House of Lords Home Affairs, Health and Education EU Sub-Committee will hold several evidence sessions in Brussels this week, as part of its ongoing inquiry into future plans for the EU's justice and home affairs programme
In two days of evidence sessions, the Committee will speak to Director General Manservisi, Directorate General Home Affairs and Director General Le Bail, Directorate General Justice.
It will also have the opportunity to question various think tank and academic witnesses, as well as several MEPs, including:
- Juan Fernando López Aguilar, Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) Committee Chair;
- Claude Moraes MEP;
- Sajjad Karim MEP;
- Judith Sargentini MEP, member of the LIBE Committee; and
- Morten Messerschmidt MEP, substitute member of the JURI Committee.
The Committee will raise issues with the witnesses such as what has been learnt from the current Stockholm Programme, and how those lessons can be carried forwards; and current thinking on what the strategic priorities of the new programme will be.
The evidence sessions will take place on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 January. Transcripts of the evidence sessions will be available the following week.
