Lords Committee to quiz Forestry Minister Dan Rogerson
The House of Lords EU Sub-Committee on Agriculture, Fisheries, Environment and Energy will this week take evidence from Dan Rogerson MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Water, Forestry, Rural Affairs and Resource, as well as officials from Defra and the Forestry Commission.
The session is part of the Committee's series of four hearings on EU forestry policy.
Areas the session will cover include:
- How is responsibility for forestry policy divided between Defra and the Forestry Commission?
- What is the Governments' and the Forestry Commission's long-term vision for EU forestry? What contribution does EU policy make to that vision?
- What appetite is there on the part of the UK Government and other Member States to improve the standing of the European Commission's Standing Forestry Committee as a forum to coordinate EU forestry policy?
- What is the Government and Forestry Commission's view of proposals by the European Commission to review its Timber Regulation in 2015? What actions are the Government taking to engage with stakeholders ahead of that review?
The evidence session will take place at 11:00am on Wednesday 2 April in Committee Room 3 of the House of Lords.
