Former Russian prime minister to tell Lords if Putin regime is sustainable
On Wednesday 19 November the House of Lords EU external affairs committee will take evidence from former Russian Prime Minister and pro-democracy politician Mikhail Kasyanov.
The politician will give evidence to the House of Lords EU Sub-Committee on External Affairs, as part of their ongoing inquiry into EU-Russia relations.
At 10.05am the Committee will take oral evidence from Mr Mikhail Kasyanov, former Prime Minister of Russia and Co-Leader of the Republican Party of People's Freedom (PARNAS Party).
Questions he will face include:
- What steps are required in order for EU sanctions to be eased?
- How can the EU and Russia resolve their seemingly irreconcilable aims for Ukraine?
- What are the prospects for the future of the Russian economy in the medium and long term?
- Is the Putin regime sustainable?
- Could sanctions be having a counter-productive effect?
- How well is the EU holding Russia to international commitments?
- How does Russia view EU enlargement in Ukraine and beyond?
The evidence session will start at 10.05am on Wednesday 19 November in Committee Room 1 of the House of Lords.
