What is the Welsh experience of inter-governmental relations? Lords Constitution Committee to ask the First Minister


The House of Lords Constitution Committee will this week take evidence from Carwyn Jones AM, First Minister for Wales, as well as David TC Davies MP and David Melding AM, Chairs of the Welsh Affairs Committee and the Welsh Assembly's Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee.

The sessions, which form part of the Committee's inquiry into intergovernmental relations in the UK, will focus on relations between the UK and Welsh Governments. The sessions will also cover how the UK Parliament and the Welsh Assembly scrutinise relations between the two Governments.

The Committee will take evidence from 10:30am on Wednesday 21 January in Committee Room 1 of the House of Lords. The full details are:

10:30am         

  • David TC Davies MP, Chairman of the House of Commons Welsh Affairs Committee
  • David Melding AM, Chairman of Welsh Assembly Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee, and of the Committee for the Scrutiny of the First Minister

11:20am         

  • Rt Hon. Carwyn Jones AM, First Minister for Wales
  • Dr Hugh Rawlings, Director, Constitutional Affairs, Welsh Government

The session will be webcast at www.parliamentlive.tv and is also open to the public. Journalists wishing to attend should go to Parliament's Cromwell Green Entrance and should allow time for security screening.
