Lords Committee to quiz Treasury Secretary on EU budget

On Tuesday 7 July a House of Lords Committee which deals with EU financial affairs will question the Financial Secretary to the Treasury, David Gauke MP, on the EU budget for 2016.

The Lords EU Financial Affairs Sub-Committee is looking into the overall EU budget process, and this session follows on from the scrutiny of the EU's own resources last week with Mario Monti.

Questions the Committee will put to David Gauke MP will cover:

  • The Government's general intentions towards supporting the budget.
  • Whether there have been improvements in the budgetary process since last year.
  • The Government's proposals to ensure that the budget is used to promote jobs and growth.
  • The Government's engagement with Mario Monti's High Level Group on Own Resources.

The evidence session will start at 10.45am on Tuesday 7 July in Committee Room 3 of the House of Lords.
