Chief ministers from Crown Dependencies to meet Lords
On Tuesday 20 December 2016 the Chief Ministers of the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey will answer questions from the House of Lords EU Committee about the impact of Brexit on their respective islands.
At 4.05pm the Committee will hear from:
- Hon. Howard Quayle MHK, Chief Minister, Isle of Man
- Senator Ian Gorst, Chief Minister, Jersey
- Deputy Gavin St Pier, Chief Minister, Guernsey
Questions the Committee is likely to ask include:
- How did people in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man react to the UK's decision to leave the European Union?
- What are the main political and economic implications for these islands of the UK's decision?
- If the UK withdraws from the EU customs union what impact will it have on the Crown Dependencies?
- Have EU nationals resident in Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man expressed any concerns about their status following the referendum?
- What implications are there for the Common Travel Area in relation to the Crown Dependencies?
- How can the UK Government best safeguard the interests of the Crown Dependencies in Brexit negotiations?
The session will start at 16:05 on Tuesday 20 December in Committee Room 3 of the House of Lords.
