Lords to hear from Department of Health officials on NHS funding

The House of Lords Committee on the Long-term Sustainability of the NHS will tomorrow take evidence from five senior Department of Health officials and the Head of Care and Reform at DCLG as it kicks off its inquiry into the future of the NHS.

The evidence session will start at 10am on Tuesday 12 July in Committee Room 1 of the House of Lords. Giving evidence will be:

• Dr Edward Scully, Deputy Director, Integrated Care, Department of Health
• Gavin Larner, Director of Workforce, Department of Health
• Tim Donohoe, Director, Informatics Delivery Management, Department of Health
• Mark Davies, Director, Health and Wellbeing, Department of Health
• Graham Duncan, Head of Care and Reform, Department for Communities and Local Government

Areas the session will cover include:

• What long-term thinking is taking place in Government about the sustainability of the NHS in the next 15-20 years? Is a free-at-the-point-of-use system sustainable?
• How will the Government meet the long term NHS funding gap? Can the Government bring stability to the funding of the NHS?
• What workforce planning has the Government done for the NHS in 15-20 years?
• How can we deliver an integrated health and social care system?
• What is the Government's long-term strategy for public health and prevention?
