Google and Twitter give evidence to Lords committee on charities
Google and Twitter will explore the importance of digital innovation with the Lords Committee on Charities, next Tuesday 29 November.
The session will also cover other areas such as the role of the Big Lottery Fund, and social investment.
The Lords Select Committee on Charities is assessing the sustainability of the charity sector, exploring the pressures and challenges they face, as well as the roles of governments and public bodies.
There will be three sessions altogether.
At 4.00pm
David Skelton, Public Policy and Government Relations Manager, Google and Nick Pickles, UK Head of Policy, Twitter will give evidence to the Committee.
They will be asked about issues such as the benefits of digital engagement to volunteering, campaigning and fundraising, effective ways to engage, and how digital innovation can be improved across the sector.
At 4.45pm
Dawn Austwick, CEO, Big Lottery Fund, and Gemma Bull, Portfolio Development Director, Big Lottery Fund will answer questions from the Committee.
They will be asked about issues such as the importance of the Big Lottery Fund, its criteria for support, and its relationship to other players in the field such as governments and other charities.
At 5.30pm
Tim Jones, Chief Executive and Secretary, Allia, Sir Harvey McGrath, Chair, Big Society Capital and Cliff Prior, CEO, Big Society Capital will all give evidence.
They will be quizzed on areas such as the potential of social investment, its limitations, and levels of uptake of this form of charitable funding.
The three evidence sessions will start at 4.00pm, on Tuesday 29 November in Committee Room 4A of the House of Lords.
