What is the future for the NHS? Lords to ask the Royal Colleges
The House of Lords Committee on the Long-term Sustainability of the NHS will next week take evidence from six Royal Colleges and the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and as it continues its investigation.
The evidence sessions will start at 10:05am on Tuesday 22 November in Committee Room 1 of the House of Lords. Giving evidence will be:

In the first session the Committee will ask the witnesses about the impact of changing patterns of disease, demographic changes and medical advances on health care to 2030, the skill mix needed in healthcare for the next 10-15 years, and the impact of over burdensome regulation on delivering improvements in healthcare.
The second session will cover issues including the suitability of the generalist model of primary healthcare for treating modern health problems, the problem of variable levels of care in different parts country and the lack of effective long-term planning in the NHS.
The final session will touch on how health and social care systems will need to be organised to ensure they remain sustainable in the next 15-20 years.
